Pop Culture Phenomenon

Okay, so I couldn't help myself. I just had to write a post about the pop culture phenomenon that is Twilight, the movie that is. Yes, I was one of the few mom's surrounded by hundred's of screaming teenie-boppers at the opening of this movie, 12:01am CST. I have to admit that I didn't have high hopes for this movie (definitely the best way to go into a movie), but was pleasantly surprised. Now, don't get me wrong, the acting was definitely sketchy in parts, most of the special effects obviously low budget, but the feeling was right. That was really all I wanted. Oh, and the Stephenie Meyer wit that made her books so unique? Yup, it was there. I can say that I am content, I already want to go see it again, and I will definitely own it. And please, please, please let them do New Moon.

The teenie's were not so impressed. I'm sure they expected way more out of it than they got. The plot line was scewed (as any book adaptaion has to be), but they got the main parts in. Kristen Stuart and Robert Pattinson had obvious chemistry and the more I type the more I wish I could watch it again right now!

Okay, so I will be useless to my children tomorrow, and hubby will have to make his own darn dinner. But I am off to bed, with sweet, sweet dreams of Rob--- I mean Edward.

Happy 2008 Halloween!

Every year for Halloween our church puts on a trunk or treat. All the cars line up and the kids go from trunk to trunk trick or treating. It is such a great tradition, and so much safer than real trick or treating, although we do that too (More candy for the parents!). Being on the activities committee meant I had to be there super early to set up, so the kids got to come for the ride. Nathan is a Knight and Caden is... can you guess? Scooby-Doo! I'm surprised I got Scott to not do it for so long. For those of you who don't know, my hubby is an avid Scooby-Doo fan. He registered for Scooby-Doo movies on our baby registry, and even got Scooby-Doo bath towels from friends who knew he loved it for our wedding (Yes, we still have them).

For our preschool field trip another group in our ward who uses the funshine express invited us to go with them to a little church pumpkin patch. They started our with singing and a story and then the kids got to pick out little pumpkins for 50 cents. My camera ran out half way through, so these are all I got.

This year we let Nathan pick out which picture pattern to carve the pumpkin with. Okay, so he might have had some help from his mom....

For Halloween Night my folks came over with David (Jonny had a much more important social function to attend). My Dad, David and Scott took Cade and Nate trick or treating while my Mom and I sat and passed out candy. I love seeing all the little kids in their fun costumes. And then making fun of the kids in their big ones. Plus it gives my Mom and I time to chat, though, not uninterrupted.

More Updates

This is Nathan's time out spot. Caden decided to keep him company this time. Cute boys.

Alex's Birthday!

I know I have mentioned before that we have a little rotation preschool we are doing this year. It has been wonderful and the kids are having so much fun. This was my first day teaching and also one of our little munchkin's 3rd birthday. I wanted to snap a couple pictures of the wild fun.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Explanation

So, I feel I owe my avid fans and readers- all 6 of you- an explanation for my lack of blogging. For the past few months I have started writing a book. Nothing big, just a story about my life from a fictional character's view. I started it as part of my healing process, along with starting counseling. I can't believe the amount of satisfaction writing has given me. So, I have been lax about updating this blog, as well as checking all of yours (or at least leaving comments when I do!). I

Second, to all of my twilight gals, our little party has created a heck of a lot of interest! I have had several people comment about our games and ideas. I am going to be putting up a post about everything that we did. I know some of the emails have asked questions about our fabulous decor, and I have to point the people to our awesome decorator Jazmin. Everyone wants to know how you made those black and red flower balls on the ceiling!

So, here is a short update on our fam. We're doing awesome! For proof, see pictures below.

Here we are on Sept 20th celebrating my Mom's 51st birthday. Dad was out of town and Scott and David were off helping with the Hurricane Ike clean up. So it was just my Mom, Me, Jonny and my little boys.

Nathan has loved pretending he is a baby lately. Silly kid.

Caden getting in on the camera action!
This is Scott trying to pretend he is not rough housing with the kids before bed. Don't believe it!

Our tradition for our church general conference has been to go to my parents house and have home made cinnamon rolls. It has been getting harder and harder to do with the kids and so switched to having my family over to our place. We had a wonderful time, with my brothers even making our homemade rolls! Unfortunately they didn't quite turn out, but Nathan had plenty of fun helping.

We decided to go to our little park down the street between sessions. Caden has officially become a slide man. He will even go down on his own (not up, though). We had a great time having my family over. Let's do it again in about six months!
